News for 6/7/2022

A new section opens for Model Kits which is my obsession with making physical figures of Wanderers of Sorceria characters made into reality. It is a work in progress and things my change there over time (most notably Hikaru and Kasumi are missing), but you can take a look at what's happening there or in this thread Model Kits

News for 12/24/2021

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • New Models:
  • Fixed Models: Removed extraneous animations from Shizuka (mostly so she can't accidentally use them in earlier parts), redone Walk animation with more animations, fixed chest scaling to be its proper values. Changed Sweet Lolita Shizuka's model base to be consistent with the others. Hokuto models general update. Hokuto's Lunar outfit now has more visible underwear; Kurumi's Lunar outfit now has her wear underwear under her tights instead of over (because that's what normal people do, you rebel)**. Kurumi and Miranda arms fixed to be more like the original animations, and idol dance animation redone. Regular Bunny Girl outfits (Hokuto, Miranda, Kurumi, Kanna, Yue Fang) now have bows. Miranda and the Kagero girls maid outfits redone.
  • Updated Models: Pixy Amy (fixed portrait, adjusted staff).

** Just so we're clear, the original Lunar Festival Jaina isn't wearing any underwear at all, otherwise this wouldn't even be a thing.

News for 9/25/2021

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Book 1, 2: Removed the Crystal Staff attachment ability from Hokuto since her model carries it by default.
  • Book 1, Chapter 3: Music no longer changes when fighting Veranda. Changed damage calculation method during the Cave Boss fight so the damage is calculated once and more consistently (Max of 40% of Boss life or 500 damage). Fixed a bug in Easy mode where Shizuka takes the Cave Boss's damage from the Frost Trap instead of the Boss (although this is just a formality since the boss fight ends just by freezing her once).
  • Book 2, Chapter 7-2: Summoner Duel changed so you only lose HP when your unit is killed on the field and not from Fusion (to prevent either side from losing because they Fusion monsters). Made Idle enemy (Player 2) and Idle Ally (Player 11) Neutral to each other so they will stop trying to kill each other during cutscenes.
  • Book 3, Chapter 6-1: Enabled correct version of Yue Fang's Soul Power.
  • Book 5: Removed Item Capture the Flag from Hokuto.
  • Book 5, Chapter 7: The Soul Shift Achievement is now achieved simply by returning the Heart of the Obelisk instead of casting Soul Shift (the achieve was accidentally deleted when the Spells were updated). You need to do this to enable Soul Shift in the first place anyway.

News for 9/24/2021

  • Fixed Models: Improvements to Hikaru alts. Johan fixed rogue vertices in jacket, recalculated normals. Shizuka (Sweet Lolita) fixed skirt frills, redone skirt animations; (Main) animation updates. Kurumi general model updates (animations); fixed Jester portrait (unless you liked staring at her boobs). Miranda (Star Princess) has bigger boobs. Ziel Portrait has improved jaw animation (not Medivh's) and a new cape. Scaldar (Crypt Lord) removed useless animations and fixed broken animations. Carrion Beetles have a revised skin and no longer leave a giant burrow ubersplat while in their decay animation. Jin Dragon Catapult, Jin Dragoon Captain, Nerubian Spider Guardian-- cleaned up animations. Fixed errors in Treants and Corrupted Treants. Fixed errors on numerous Zande units.
  • Reforged Models: N/A.
  • General: First pass at fixing model file paths. Nekurow's Soul Power should use Spell Slam animation whenever possible.
  • Books 1 and 2: Fixed Dependency Equivalents for Ziel's Twister Forms (although I don't think this affected anything). Changed Chika (Kitty)'s outfit.

  • Fixed Models: Kurumi (Schoolgirl) wears white underwear.

  • General: Fixed tooltip for Summon Broodlings. Fixed tooltip for Rain of Arrows. Troll Shamen and Warlocks require Shaman Adept Training to learn their spells. Flame Wave description is more neutral.
  • Book 1, Chapter 1: Main cutscenes are no longer able to be sequence broken so you can no longer skip picking up Heroes.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: Spiderlings are no longer able to construct a Necropolis on this map.
  • Book 1, Chapter 3: The possible loot drop of a Shadow Orb replaced with an Orb of Darkness for consistency's sake.
  • Book 1, Chapter 4: Staff of Teleportation is no longer sold on the Goblin Merchant. Bandit Lord drops a Spiked Collar instead of a Crystal Ball.
  • Book 1, Chapter 7: Fixed Glowing Magic Tiles so they require additional steps to trigger: the Tile in the Battleship area requires hitting the Lever for the bridge next to it; the Switch puzzle requires hitting all the switches in addition to the Tile; the Spiral Trap room also requires destroying all three generators. The teleport trap remains unchanged.
  • Book 2, General: Nerubian Royal Ziggurats no longer have Dark Mutation (they are on the Soul Spire). Changed the Hotkey for Blade Barrier. Added missing hotkey for Nerubian Guardian. Added missing tooltip to Pig Farm.
  • Book 2, Chapter 2: Scaldar no longer refers to the removed Crypt building.
  • Book 2, Chapter 3: Replaced several of the Circles of Power with an unselectable ground effect.
  • Book 2, Chapter 5: Witch Doctor Adept Training is no longer available since there are no Witch Doctors.
  • Book 2, Chapter 6: The quest objectives to defeat the final boss should be consistent between watching the cutscene and skipping it. Corpse generation by the Tower Defenders no longer allows stuctures, flyers, or mechanical units to generate a corpse. Crystal Ball and Staff of Teleportation are disabled on this map.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7: Tiny Great Hall is no longer available on the Goods Exchange. Disabled Burrow Charge for Scaldar during cutscenes.
  • Book 2, Fight Dragon: The dragons can only be fought in sequence. Crystal Ball and Staff of Teleportation are disabled on this map. Crystal Ball and Staff of Teleportation added to the Goblin Merchant.
  • Book 3, General: Kurumi's class names should be consistent with the rest of the series. Added more checks to ensure Ziel appears in Human form in cutscenes.
  • Book 3, Introduction: Fixed an issue where the map would not load in War3 version 1.26 (the map size was too large for this patch).
  • Book 3, Chapter 1: Scaldar starts with maximum mana even after the Murloc cutscene.
  • Book 3, Chapter 2: Crossbow units are named more appropriately and use the correct model.
  • Book 3, Chapter 3: Sazabi starts with maximum HP and Mana.
  • Book 3, Chapter 6: Infernus Scorpions and Infernus Elite Guards are now properly tagged as Summoned units.

  • Book 4, Chapter 1, 2, 3: Undead, Murloc, and Naga tech trees are no longer available by Charming workers.
  • Book 4, Chapter 7: Coral Beds are properly removed if the Vektra Knights aren't recruited. Fixed Zava's name in the Quest Description. Eclipse Cannon's Eclipse Blast mana cost and cooldown reduced to a more appropriate level for the amount of time you have to wait for it.
  • Book 5, General: Missions where you choose your army will now create a duplicate Hero for the computer's use to use as they see fit on the level instead of using your own Hero directly. This may also have other consequences (such as the other Heroes not gaining levels-- but note that Six automatically is leveled up if you haven't used him until forced to in Chapter 8), but the main goal is to prevent the AI from disposing of your Heroes' inventories.
  • Book 5, Chapter 8: Holy Shock is correctly disabled as it should be with the rest of Hikaru's class abilities in Part 3. The countdown timer pauses upon any Defeat condition in Part 4.
  • Book 5, Dragon Slayer Arena: The bosses can only be fought in sequence. Crystal Ball and Staff of Teleportation are disabled on this map. Crystal Ball and Staff of Teleportation added to the Goblin Merchant.
  • X2: Reforged concrete walls graphics changed to be more comprehensible (probably not final).

Currently nearly all Satyr building models and some units are still in SD due to issues in consistently making all the buildings HD.

News for 3/10/2020

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • X2: Restored missing model in the Prologue.

News for 02/04/2020

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with some features meant for Reforged, but which are currently untested because Reforged currently does not support Custom Campaigns.

  • New Models: Cold Wraith (new version), Director Xine Crystal (Book 6 doodad), Chaos Launcher (Purple HD Voidwalker), Prince David (Demon Hunter), Darm (Human Form), Jarek the Lotus, Dwarf Axeman, Ekim, Blood Elf Officer (mostly Keeper Kell and misc Book 5 Heroes), Chaos Citadel/Spire, Chaos Gate, Chaos Column, Chaos Vortex, Satyr Shadow Hall, Jin Arcane Vault (redone).
  • Fixed Models: Metallus (rogue Omnilight in Stand animation), Mizuki (orphaned bones in unused animations), Nether Dragon (removed death particles from spin, added missing spin ribbons, fixed death animation), Nargul (wings Normals).
  • Models Changed For Reforged: First pass at setting explicit scaling for Heroes. Abomination Heroes (in general) now use the default Cinematic model. Mammonoth is now purple instead of red. Arma Defender is now based on Gigantic Sea Turtle instead of Sea Turtle Hatchling. Drokmarim Brawler is now based on Elder Sasquatch. Murlocs should more readily accept HD transition (with a few exceptions; see below). Removed custom Shade (not important). Switched models for Obsidian Statue/Destroyer and Chaos Chariot. Changed Summoned Apparitions to be based off Ghost creeps instead of Sylvanas (Banshee). Changed Medusa to be based off Lady Vashj. Reduced model size of Elven Swordman. Reduced model size of Mech Rider. Jin Farms appear the same as regular Human Farms (so they won't turn into Elven buildings). SkyFury and EarthFury Towers reverted to default.
  • Reforged Models: Soul Reaper (Hero and Unit), Cannon Hermit, Jin Advisor (Hero), Jin War Scholar, Jin Dragoon, Jin Knight, Jin Dragonhawk Rider, Dragonhawk (riderless), Giant Bat (riderless), Papa/Rand (Big Mortar Dwarf), Dwarf Car (Surtur Tank), Orc Car (Book 5 Battlewagon), Diablo Car (Book 6 Fel Cannon), Elf Swordsman, Gnoll Blade Storm, Jin Guard Tower, Jin Arcane Vault, Chaos Guard Tower.
  • General: Custom Terrain textures added for Reforged HD mode. Mirror Slice (both versions) and several Soul Powers code fixed to Pjass standards. Chaos Wing uses the HD Nether Dragon model as intended. Thunder Phoenix creeps replaced with Dragonhawks with the same stats.
  • Book 1, 2, General: General Firestar is now a mounted Bandit Wizard instead of an unmounted caster. Mech Riders no longer have the Mana Regeneration ability.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: Eredar Diabolists replaced with Vile Tormentors. Named Infernal uses the proper model. Named Doom Guard scaled down to default.
  • Book 1, Chapter 7: Keeper Kell can no longer be raised from the dead.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7: Nerubian Webspinner creeps replaced with Spitting Spiders. I don't know how this happened in the first place, but that was not intentional. Infernal creeps use the proper model. Siege Golems reverted to Siege Tanks.
  • Book 3, Chapter 6: Replaced Infernus Sorcerer model for future proofing with Reforged (Firelord to Red HD Voidwalker).
  • Book 3, Chapter 7: Reverted model for Hawk Trooper to The Captain.
  • Book 3, Epilogue: Changed the unit composition of the Jin/Nerubian mixed army and the Fountain of Magic units. The Rebel Army is now entirely made up of Chaos Legion units.
  • Book 5, General: Jin Gyrocopters are now Sky Lanterns with the same stats. Lizardman troop buildings graphics reverted to default.
  • Book 5, Chapter 8, Part 1: Night Gaunt armor corruption now works again.
  • Book 5, Dragon Slayer Arena: Fixed Ebon using the Nether Dragon model instead of her own.
  • Book 6, General: Dian Wei's Rolling Slash replaced with Cyclone Slash-- Rolling Slash's graphic is completely unreliable in Reforged. Some KoS Heroes' graphics altered.
  • Book 6, South District: Pit Lord creeps replaced with Wrathguard creeps and should no longer appear on the map.
  • X1, General: Fixed old abilities to Pjass standards. Removed some old models.
  • X2, General: Fixed old abilities to Pjass standards. Removed some old models.

Due to the way Reforged works model transition between SD and HD doesn't appear to play well if you actually physically replace the SD model with your own custom-- the game will use that instead of the HD model if you do this. Therefore in order to get the Murlocs working correctly I have had to revert them to their TFT, spiky selves in Books 3 through 6 (they are RoC version in 1 and 2, but don't swim, as designed). In most cases all of the Murloc units other than the Chaos Murloc (used for the Murloc Assassin) should transition to their HD models as needed. This problem no longer affected the Nerubians since all of their models have changed to static HD models.

News for 9/23/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Book 4, Chapter 6: Fixed Zava's name.
  • Book 5, General: Assassin weapon upgrades should be Steel Arrows instead of Black Gunpowder.
  • Book 5, Chapter 7: Eagle Riders use Black Gunpowder upgrade in this map for range upgrades since Steel Arrows doesn't exist on this level.

News for 7/5/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • New Models: Nekurow, Nekurow (Dark Fact), Chaos Knight, High Elf Archer, High Elf Eagle Rider, High Elf Ranger Hero, Poisoned Treant, Satyr Hellcaller (not actually used, but alters the texture of the Satyr Overlord), Zande Priestess of the Waves (based on the Holiday minidress instead of the bellydancer outfit because that honestly never made sense), Harem Girl, Ninja Maid, Nether Dragon, Wind Serpent/Couatl.
  • Updated Models: Fixed Shizu (Viper) missing texture for the back of her obi. Added missing spell effects to Dalles (Lich)'s Channel and Attack animations, fixed portrait jaw movement. Added portrait for Chaos Judge Hero and shortened its death animation. Added missing portrait for Spider Lord Hero. Fixed Treants and Corrupted Treants being unselectable during their harvesting animations, added missing Team Color to their backs, and fixed missing Team Color on their portraits. Fixed Giant Bat critters missing a texture where it made it so they didn't show up at all (fixes a Blizzard version issue). Slightly shortened death animation for Satyr Overlord and changed skin texture. Zande Archer and Hippogryph Rider updated slightly to match the High Elf additions. Fixed High Elf Footman team colors in Book 3 to match the version in Book 5. Fixed Ebon's portrait glow being attached to her Hero Glow.

  • Book 1, Chapter 8: Changed Miranda's Magical Girl yell to refer to her Magical Girl identity.
  • Book 2, Chapter 1: Removed reference to Ziel not having a special weapon.
  • Book 2, Epilogue: Removed the creepy-looking male Elven Archers and changed them back into female archers using the new model. These were not supposed to be used anymore.
  • Book 5, Chapter 7: Picking Nekurow as your army should allow you to train Eagle Riders from the Aviary as intended.
  • Book 6, Sorceria Core: Hikaru has Dispel Magic instead of Defoliate for this section because Defoliate is useless and you practically needed the Wand of Dispel Magic to fight both of his bosses. With this change you no longer need to carry the Wand.
  • Book 6, Secret Level: Asmodyrac, Higure, and Reiko are now using the correct models. Abolisher will no longer turn all of his team's workers into Ice Revenants and instead can summon them directly.

News for 6/4/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Book 2, Chapter 7: Fixed the Summoning duel to check if the Summoners' HP goes below zero, in which case it's the same as them losing.

News for 6/3/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Updated Models: Fixed Director Xine from crashing the game in Patch 1.31 and repaired his missing portrait. Fixed Abolisher being unable to be selected in general and made his force bubble more visible (which serves as his selection box); reduced the size and intensity of his Hero Glow. Fixed Kosseimaru being unable to be selected during his attack animations.
  • Updated Abilities: Yue Fang's Max Shockwave replaced with Violent Lunge. Added new graphics to Battle Charge and Leg Sweep. Fixed Mirror Slice making the caster unable to move if they happen to die in the middle of its animation sequence. Changed Frost Wave's flavor text to be more generic (it really didn't make much sense even in context). Changed the base ID of Cripple-based abilities (Cripple (Hero), Cripple (Naga), Hamstring) to future-proof it against the melee patch (this should only really affect the Cripple (Naga) spell anyway and probably not so much since only Morkoth casters use it). Changed the base ID of Carrion Beetles (Lurker) to the neutral hostile Raise Dead for future-proofing purposes.
  • General: Spawned Skeleton Warriors and Spiders cost 0 food regardless of how they enter the map to fix a discrepency in unit spawning abilities.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: Fixed potential skip directly to the Shion Boss fight if you had not picked up Miranda yet. Removed Shion's Undead tag.
  • Book 2, Chapter 4: Moved Ancient Ziggurats to the south end of the base. Adjusted the size of the Ambush zones.
  • Book 2, Chapter 6: Added checks to ensure the dialogue units yelling at you are still alive when they trigger.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7: Disable Kosseimaru's Raise Dead autocast when he's not under your control.
  • Book 2, Fight Dragon: Disable the cinematic when you lose because it was moved to a different part. You just flat out lose.
  • Book 3, General: Removed Call to Arms from Chaos Citadel, Peasants, and Town Halls.
  • Book 4, General: Fixed all the Player shops to contain their global inventory instead of all custom inventories with identical inventories minus the Tome of Retraining.
  • Book 5, General: Removed Call to Arms from Chaos Citadel, Peasants, and Town Halls.
  • Book 5, Chapater 8-4: Fixed tooltip error on Command Aura. Moved Command Aura off the command card for space reasons (negates previous fix, oh well?). All of Yue Fang's spells cost no Mana instead of a trivial amount of mana.
  • Book 5, Chapater 8-5: All of Scaldar's spells cost no mana instead of a trivial amount of mana.
  • Book 6, General: Removed Ensnare from Chaos Wing and Call to Arms from Chaos Citadel.

  • Book 1, Chapter 7: Fixed Black Dream using the wrong model.
  • Book 1, Chapter 8: Fixed Black Dream using the wrong model.

News for 5/7/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Updated Models: Nerubian Royal Ziggurat, Nerubian Shrine of Spiders. Changed Nerubian Warrior and Webspinner textures so they are more distinguishable from each other (Warriors now use Black Armor instead of Orange Armor with 'Black' skin; Webspinners will now use the 'Albino' skin instead of 'Orange' skin) while scaling back the team color on the Warrior Armor for both Warriors and Hero Warriors (generally just Spinorak). Death Spiders (also Skithis Bloodfang) now use the Fire Nerubian model. Fixed Chaos Judge missing portrait.
  • Updated Abilities: Fixed abilities based on Acid Bomb buffing enemy units instead of debuffing them. Barrier Flood should no longer knockback snared units or buildings.
  • General: Fixed certain abilities not working due to Hashtable not being initialized in several maps.
  • Book 3, General: Summoner Duels now consistently start as soon as you exist the opening cutscene instead of having to wait for the Leaderboard to appear first. Fixed Soul Empowerment in Summoner Duels not affecting the first summoned beast.
  • Book 3, Chapter 4: Fixed campaign items using old data.
  • Book 3, Chapter 6: Fixed missing loading screen. Fixed campaign items using old data.
  • Book 4, Chapter 3: Fixed Scorched Remains unit taint. Fixed Spider Egg unit taint. Replaced Nerubian Warriors with Crypt Fiends.
  • Book 5, Chapter 8, Part 3: Fixed Flame Lord Hikaru being unable to move as a Flying unit. Fixed attack stats of all alternative Hikaru classes to match the attack stats of the original classes for this level.

News for 4/28/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Fixed Models: Fixed Satyr Overlord missing portrait.
  • Updated Abilities: Removed mentions of flying for the Books 1 and 2 versions of Twister Form; Ziel can fly in every other campaign save those two. Chaos Sentinel stats should be more consistent.
  • Book 1, 2: Frenzied Ghouls summoned by Kosseimaru can no longer be raised from the dead themselves. Kosseimaru can cast Dark Ritual on his own Frenzied Ghouls. Frenzied Ghouls in general no longer benefit from Coral Blades or Coral Scales upgrades. Fixed summoned Spirit Krakens.
  • Book 1, Chapter 3: Fixed Heroic Mode Red Dragon's Flame Wave being accidentally deleted.
  • Book 2, General: Shion has Spell Steal instead of Carrion Swarm. He will either have Dispel Magic or Defoliate as an ability, but not both, replacing Raise Dead. Fixed Royal Obelisk Repair time.
  • Book 2, Chapter 2: Starting Warmages replaced with Webspinners as intended.
  • Book 2, Chapter 3: Caravan Wagons have reduced collision size. Caravan Guard summoned units are now treated as suicide units and will run to the end of the route regardless of where the Caravan is. Fixed model of Nerubian Scout.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7: Changed model of Balrog and Meteor Skull summons.
  • Book 2, Epilogue: Removed recruitable Mercenaries. Chaos Legion units no longer leave corpses or can be raised from the dead.
  • Book 3, General: Chaos Legion units no longer leave unraiseable corpses as in every other campaign.
  • Book 3, Chapter 3: Bannon has Wither instead of Cripple.
  • Book 3, Chapter 4, 5: Magic Switches once again count as Summoned units for Dispel purposes.
  • Book 5, 6: Bannon's Soul summoned by Sazabi now also comes with Wither.

News for 4/26/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Fixed Models: Nerubian Warrior, Satyr, and Satyr Shadowdancer should no longer leave stray corpses on other units. Corrupted Treants are properly labeled to not wait for a Decay animation to remove them.
  • Updated Abilities: Volt Wave should no longer crash the game.
  • Book 1, 2 General: Changed Kosseimaru's Raise Dead list into a more progressive and consistent power gain (no Frost Wyrms at Lv.10 anymore, it will always be Soul Reapers) and added checks to modify it based on whether you tech for Skeletal Mastery and Skeleton Longevity. Special units raised by Kosseimaru will check against his Raised Limit before attempting to replace his regular Skeleton Warriors, therefore any Raised units following the limit will simply spawn a Skeleton Warrior instead of nothing (due to Raise Dead summoning two units at once, occasionally Kosseimaru will be able to summon an extra unit over the limit, but since the limit isn't documented I'm okay with this). Fixed Ziel's 3rd and 4th class Twister forms using the wrong model.
  • Book 1, General: Fixed the Build and Repair times on the Nerubian Ziggurat and Royal Obelisk.
  • Book 1, Chapter 1: Reverted Chaos Sentinel to its default values. Changed Ownership of Campaign Elves so they won't go to the player.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: Fixed the trader NPC's missing name.
  • Book 1, Secret Level 1: You gain 30 free Food resource for which to hire Mercenaries once you find Tanya.
  • Book 1, Chapter 5: Disabled enemy Hero Ultimate abilities and certain normal abilities so they won't annoy you as much with your own choices.
  • Book 1, Chapter 6: Fixed a typo in Kanna's speech. Enforce level cap on all NPC Heroes on the map depending on difficulty. Nekurow Lavalord has Endurance Aura instead of Regeneration Aura.
  • Book 2, Chapter 5: Priestess of the Waves has Watery Minion instead of Summon Lava Spawn (I don't know, either).
  • Book 3, Chapter 3: Bannon's Volt Wave will do extra damage to Chaos Legion units.
  • Book 6, South District: Magma Serpents now have Resistant Skin.

News for 4/25/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • General: Removed Seal of Oracles from all player characters. The way it functions works entirely different in every campaign and there's honestly no real use for it as a player as you can't use it on almost anything; Soul Power is almost always more useful in most situations.
  • Fixed Models: Fixed Cold Wraith portrait and removed blood from death.
  • Updated Abilities: Changed Volt Wave spell logic back to its original form to fix an infinite loop bug; Summoned unit damage now scales according to ability level and the dispel is Purge-based instead of trigger-based. Fixed mana cost description for Healing Ward. Fixed Purge (Hero ability) missing its buff at higher levels. Changed hotkey for Kosseimaru's Raise Dead and Free Mode Summon Chaos Sentinel. Removed any line about Greater Dark Minions from Disruption Web; you can't generate those.
  • Book 2, Chapter 1: Changed tally for the Wanderer's Journal; you always get 3 Journal Pages for completing the stage.
  • Book 3, Chapter 3: Reduced cost of Volt Wave and War Stomp for Bannon further. It's more fun that way.
  • Book 4, General: Nekurow is no longer classed as Undead. Fixed Chaos Sentinel using the wrong Taunt.
  • Book 5, General: Fixed Chaos Sentinel using the wrong Taunt.
  • Book 5, Secret Level 2: Zule and Kosseimaru now have Summon Corpse. Kosseimaru now has Sunstroke for an Ultimate.
  • Book 6, General: Kosseimaru now has Create Corpse.

News for 4/22/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • General: Updated Unit and Ability database for Books 1 through 5 to be compatible with Book 6 and extra stories. Adjusted several maps custom units with unit IDs that shouldn't conflict with the additional global units added. In Book 3's case many of the hacked-in abilities (particularly for Kurumi in Chapter 7) should now be identical to how they appear in Book 6. Several enemy Heroes may have new abilities or additional ability functions.
  • Updated Models: Shizuka (Pink Lolita), Miranda (Star Princess), Tanya, Queen Arcadia (Queen, Disguised), Reiko, Master Higure, Asmodyrac, Zhang Liao, Yue Jin, Li Dian, Soul Reaper, Nerubian Spider Lord (Crypt Lord), Female Necromancer, Cold Wraith, Death Knight, Nerubian Warrior, Nerubian Webspinner, Nerubian Guardian, Satyr, Satyr Shadowdancer, Satyr Trickster, Satyr Corruptor, Satyr Overlord, Corrupted Treant, Treant, Infernal, Chaos Knight (Rider), Chaos Judge, Chaos Blader, Chaos Priest, Jin Footman, Jin Archer, Jin Knight, Jin War Scholar, Jin Dragonhawk, Jin Hawk Trooper, all Lizardmen.
  • Fixed Models: Surtur the Dynamite (Siege Engine) and Battlewagon now have proper Death animations. Fixed Johan's Attack Slam animation looping. Fixed Jenna's hair ribbon and ponytail not being in sync. Fixed Scaldar attachment points and animation flaws (also fixed for Warrior and Rogue Nerubian Heroes). Fixed Scaldar's portrait camera. Removed talk animations for Nerubian Warrior (General) and Rogue (Nightblade) heroes. Removed talk animations for Six.
  • Updated Art: New icons for Garanteen, Scaldar, Bannon, Shyron. Changed several Loading Art around, added new art for Zava in Book 6.
  • Updated Abilities: Dummy Units in general should now be more invisible (no health bars, no minimap icons). Many abilities based on Channel are now using AI friendly abilities as their base and therefore should be seen more often. Fixed several abilities that can damage structures so they can target the same structures. Chaos Wave now functions identical to how it is used in X1. Dragon Soul given new missile graphic and can allow every missile to possibly attack the same unit. Blade Barrier graphic cleaned up and selectable with team color. Chilling Orb orb (more pretty) and missile (less lag) and tells how much damage it does. Volcanic Crater missile (less lag), terrain deformation removed, and tells how much damage it does. Arcane Missiles is now called Arcane Whip. Life Transfusion is now called Soothing Mist. Heal Bomb is now called Defile Life and has a new spell graphic. Rain of Arrows has a new graphic. Removed redundant line from Gravity Shell's description because it's not a stasis trap. Gravity Hold now leaves a localized area behind for 25 seconds that affects any enemy unit that goes into the area instead of immediately applying a slow effect to anyone in range (damage is still immediate). Starfall (Shizuka version) is now called Hanami Festival and is more visually appropriate, and has a lower mana cost. Aikido Skills is now called Hunter Skills. Spell Book for Kurumi is now called Summoner Grimoire. Lunar Strike is now called Lunar Dragon Strike. Tentacles is now called Spawn Tentacle and actually lasts the advertised 60 seconds. Eclipse Cannon's blast is more epic. Dragon Jump can now target the ground in addition to units (AI Gunther is still not allowed to use it because it messes with the AI scripts). Disease Aura now has a smaller area and shorter duration. Plague Disease Clouds can no longer be targetted, killed, or block pathing. Fixed rare Cleave bug where it could proc off its own attack.
  • General: Increased Bannon's attack range to account for his animation's reach. Scaldar should consistently do Chaos damage after receiving the Nails of Sagila. Ziel (Tornado)'s attack speed should be faster than Human form. Ziel's Human form no longer deals Chaos damage after losing Ziel's Sword. Tendaro no longer has Shadow Meld or Rain of Fire and now has Rain of Arrows. Miranda's Soul Power now has an additional passive aura effect. Mekani Troopers now have 520 HP and deal Normal type damage. Mekani Overseers now have 780 HP, deal 10 less damage, deal Pierce type damage, no longer have Ensnare, and consumes 4 Food (they're obviously nerfed, but they're still stronger than any Tier 1 ranged unit). Catapult Spiders can now be raised/animated/resurrected from the dead, move slightly faster, and instead of creating Disease Clouds upon attack they spawn two Spiders which last 6 seconds. Spawned Spiders from Catapult Spiders are now affected by Nerubian upgrades. Jormungar Guardians are now Nerubian Guardians, which are mechanical spider golems (and therefore now benefit from the Mech Power Core, but aren't Undead) and use Spiked Armor instead of Disease Cloud.
  • Books 1, 2: Removed redundant fanservice Shizuka classes (Ninja Maid, Harlequin, Solidarity) so she doesn't have significantly more than anyone else. Shizuka (Lolita) should now be on par with Hikaru (Chaos Lord). Added Scaldar (Dragon Armor). Ziel (Twister Form) is no longer counted as an Air unit. Fixed Nekurow (Dark Fact) missing his horns. Blood Elf Officer model replaced with the standard Spellbreaker. Johan (Tinker) can now attack Trees. Male Necromancers replaced with Female Necromancers. Satyr Succubus units renamed back to Soulstealers and are ranged caster units instead of melee. Spinorak's Ultimate summons a Jormungar Behemoth instead of a Blade Kraken.
  • Book 1, Intro: Changed units into their global versions.
  • Book 1, Chapter 1: Changed Surtur into the Siege Engine version and increased his attack range.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: Heroic Shion will only use Plague in Hard difficulty. His arena now comes with Runes of Restoration to be more in line with contemporary fights of his nature (that is to say he's about as hard as a Book 6 boss), and the walkway is slightly larger. Added check to make sure you can't kill the Kirin Tank before you hit the required cutscene. Added extra reactions to Miranda's class if you picked certain alternates.
  • Book 1, Chapter 7: Added sequence break checks so you can't complete the level just by forcing your way to the door. Moved Kurumi Journal Fragment from next to the hidden boss to behind Ayame's station.
  • Book 1, Secret Level: Overseer Royce no longer drops a quest item; killing her is sufficient to unlock Miranda's costume. The two extraneous exits to the Army of the Dead base are now passable once you enter from the rear entrance with Tanya.
  • Book 2, Intro: Changed units into their global versions; revised the final shot to remove a Hero that's there twice. Miranda and Kanna are also now using their 2P variants.
  • Book 2, Chapter 1: Shadow Dragon no longer has Healing Ward. Deathclaw fireballs deal 50 more damage.
  • Book 2, Chapter 3, Part 2: Removed Faerie Dragons. Changed Corrupted Ancient Protectors into Demolishers. Moved Hikaru's Journal Fragment out of Zava's area and into Scaldar's maze. Moved Kurumi's Journal Fragment out of the Hidden Boss area and into Kosseimaru's maze. The third Journal Fragment remains in Johan's maze. Reverted Hokuto losing control of all of her units upon entering Zava's maze (obviously this trivializes Zava, but that was the original solution to defeating her in the first place as Hokuto is generally no match for her).
  • Book 2, Chapter 6: Moved Shizuka's Journal Fragment from the middle of the door maze to the end. Removed Zava's Dress quest item.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7: Fixed Achievement description to update the Crown of Kings to the Orb of Death if it spawns instead. Mizuki only gains free summons on Easy mode instead of just when she's losing.
  • Book 2, Secret Level: Added Level Reduction feature to the Class Selector. In addition the Level Reduction is available to Kosseimaru, Sazabi, Kasumi, and Tanya (Higure and Tendaro are not eligible for level reduction since they already start at high level). Changed Xaax the Defiler's unit ID so it isn't the same as a common dummy unit.
  • Books 3, 4, 5, 6: Changed abilities for several classes of Hikaru, Shizuka, and Kurumi. Hikaru (Sorcerer) now has his Book 6 version of Firewall instead of the old, obsolete version. Hikaru (Chaos Lord) has Chain Mana Burn instead of Chaos Soldiers. Kurumi (Summoner) now has Spell Book back instead of Lucky Shot. Kurumi (Gunner) has the correct version of Lucky Shot. Sorana's summons are now based on Dark Minions and can no longer spawn off killing Heroes or Magic Immune units (in addition to the existing criteria).
  • Book 3, General: Fixed Bannon's walking animation. Hikaru's model in cutscenes will be consistent regardless of what class he is.
  • Book 3, Intro: Ended the Hikaru and Johan fighting the Nerubian scene after it's been seen so the sound effects don't bleed over into the next one.
  • Book 3, Chapter 2: Moved Kurumi's Journal Fragment from the Murloc camp (next to the Obelisk) to the escape route.
  • Book 3, Chapter 3: Bannon's Volt Wave and War Stomp are cheaper to cast on this level. Bannon's Volt Wave deals 100 additional damage against Summoned units. Moved Hikaru's Journal Fragment from the middle of the woods guarded by Giant Spiders to one of the Gnoll camps.
  • Book 3, Chapter 4: Removed the ramps in the third Switch room. Moved Shizuka's Journal Fragment away from the statue so it's easier to see.
  • Book 3, Chapter 5: Changed the Kunoichi (Mage) enemy heroes into maids to differentiate them from the Kunoichi (striker) heroes. Removed Kagero's nonexistant Soul Power (she doesn't have an offensive ability therefore she wastes her mana and time trying to cast it). Changed graphics for Kotetsu's Soul Power to be more consistent with her other attacks. Moved Shizuka's Journal Fragment to the start of the door puzzle. Moved the second Hikaru's Journal Fragment to the grid puzzle room.
  • Book 3, Chapter 6: Rescuing the caravan now rewards Yue Fang with permanent +2 to all stats. Cinder is now much stronger to make up for no longer having access to his overpowered items. Children of the Flame reduce armor on attack. Infernus Phoenix attacks slightly slower. Losing to Gui Jia hands out a more benign penalty.
  • Book 3, Chapter 8: Chaos Gaunts no longer fly.
  • Book 3, Epilogue: The Fountain of Magic and Supply Depot attack slightly slower.
  • Book 4, Intro: Fixed the Black Dream using the wrong model. Slightly shortened the time between the skippable cutscene and the character select. Class unlock criteria updated.
  • Book 4, Chapter 1: The Eclipse Cannon now deals four times as much damage as before and hits the entire screen for falloff damage, with the epicenter hit being nearly certain death for your Heroes (you still have roughly 3 seconds to avoid the epicenter, but this also puts any nearby allied and enemy units in mortal danger).
  • Book 4, Chapter 3: Fixed trigger preventing the boss from casting Seal of Oracles.
  • Book 4, Chapter 4: Fixed the shallow water pathing where the Hydra Soul is fought so you no longer have to solo it with Abolisher.
  • Book 4, Chapter 5: Chaos Gaunts removed and reverted to Chaos Chariots. Removed the non-Suicidal requirement from Transport units.
  • Book 4, Chapter 6: Fixed Zava's name in the ending cutscene.
  • Book 4, Chapter 7: Fixed Guardians using the wrong model. Shortened the visibility effect of Eclipse Blast by four seconds; twelve seconds is too long. Changed Surtur into the Siege Engine version and increased his attack range.
  • Books 5, 6: Shadra now has Fire Spin instead of Arcane Whip. Changed the hotkey to build Chaos Vortex to be different from the Arcane Vault.
  • Book 5, General: Lizardmen units are no longer overpowered and are more comparable to their contemporaries. The Lizardman tech tree is also expanded as an alternative Orc style tree (they still don't need to upgrade their town hall building).
  • Book 5, Chapter 4: Moved Hikaru Journal Fragment to the Ogre camp (where the captured Gnolls are). Moved Shizuka Journal Fragment to the front Orc base from the rear base. Changed army makeup of Lizardmen attack waves. Added a path between the Troll base and the Orc base. Moved the creeps next to the Troll base to be further away. If the Murlocs are not present their gold mine will also be removed.
  • Book 5, Chapter 8, Part 2: Changed the graphics of the Mastyrial Necromancer.
  • Book 5, Chapter 8, Part 5: Gunther no longer casts Light of Judgement. Gunther's spirit allies have lower HP.
  • Book 6, General: The classes that Hikaru, Kurumi, and Shizuka are forced to use the first time you play Book 6 are fixed regardless of your choices, which means first-time players will no longer get oddly and harshly penalized for what they did earlier in the campaign by being given sub-par classes to play with. You can always choose to do this yourself later.
  • Book 6, West District: Scaldar's obsolete splash art removed from his rebirth cutscene since he no longer looks like this.
  • Book 6, South District: Changed the party of random bunny girls into a familiar idol group.
  • Book 6, East District: Fixed Zava's name in Kurumi's ending cutscene.
  • X1, General: Changed the criteria to meet the Void Emissary and enter the Secret Level. The Void Emissary requires beating the Secret Level or having activated all four Obelisks and completed the story. The Secret Level requires either joining the Void Emissary or completing the story with all four Obelisks activated.
  • X2, Chapter 1: Abduction is now based on Aerial Shackles instead of being a free-target avoidable spell in other maps to match its function in Starcraft 2.
  • X2, Chapter 2: The Fountain of Magic and Supply Depot attack slightly slower.

Book 4 Class Unlocks

In addition to the criteria below all of these require at least 8 (9 in Shizuka's case) Obelisks activated and the completion of Book 5.

  • Hikaru (Chaos Lord): Buy Hikaru's 60 Journal Page upgrade or defeat Hikaru's Secret Boss (Shizuka) in Book 6
  • Hikaru (Panda Knight): obtain the Orb of Souls or Accept Hokuto's aid in Book 5
  • Hikaru (Awakened Swordsman): take the Third Option when prompted by Hokuto in Book 5
  • Hikaru (Holiday/Flame Lord): listen to Shion's tall tale the whole way through in Book 5, Chapter 6
  • Shizuka (Sweet Lolita): Buy Shizuka's 60 Journal Page upgrade or defeat Shizuka's Secret Boss (Six) in Book 6
  • Shizuka (Ninja Maid): obtain the Orb of Death, Accept Hokuto's aid in Book 4, or lose to either Kurumi or Guo Jia in the Summoning Duel in Book 3
  • Shizuka (Harlequin): observe the costume scene for Jester or Solidarity in Book 3 Intro
  • Shizuka (Awakened Priestess): Empower Deathclaw Soul (complete Dragon Slayer Arena) or empower five Summoned Beast Souls by defeating their Souls in various levels
  • Kurumi (Succubus): Buy Kurumi's 60 Journal Page upgrade or defeat Kurumi's Secret Boss (Essence of Wrath) in Book 6
  • Kurumi (Dancing Butterfly): obtain the Orb of Twilight or Accept Hokuto's aid in Book 4
  • Kurumi (Idol Singer): successfully finish Secret Level 2 of Book 1
  • Kurumi (Bunny Girl): complete the optional quest "Trader Moe" in Book 4, Chapter 6
  • Kurumi (Holiday/Gun Mage): listen to Shion's tall tale the whole way through in Book 5, Chapter 6
  • Kurumi (Awakened Summoner): complete Secret Level 2 in Book 4 by helping Gina

  • Book 2, Secret Level: Fixed Sazabi using the wrong model.
  • Book 6, Introduction: Fixed Scaldar and Deathclaw using the old icons.

News for 2/26/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Book 2, Chapter 7, Part 1: Fixed Soul Gem turning Garanteen into a droppable item.

News for 2/25/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Updated models: Carrion Beetle. Hikaru (Adol) no longer has a cape. Sazabi has a new Walk animation. Jin War Scholars no longer have Hero Glow (Hero officers will still have the glow). Chaos Gaunt now has a portrait.
  • General Sounds: Added (sexier than Naisha) voice set for Miranda. Updated voice set for Lord Kosseimaru. Added previously removed voice set for Jenna. Fixed Kanna's voice set being much quieter than anyone else. Rearranged some of Mizuki's unit responses so they make a little more sense where they're used. Added new Pissed sounds for Nel (who did not have a full set of them before).
  • General: Tome of Retraining added to Goblin Merchants and faction shops (any map without an editted inventory will have this), replacing the spot where faction Orbs would have been. On Goblin Merchants this normally replaces the Wand of Shadowsight. The tome comes in a stock of three and costs no gold.
  • General: Fixed Kanna's Weapon attachment being on the wrong hand (for animation purposes she's technically also left-handed). Gunther's Team Color is fixed to Blue. Lurker Carrion Beetles will live as long as advertised (90 seconds instead of 60 seconds). Minor Blade Krakens summoned by Feral Spirit are now called Spirit Krakens as the tooltip suggests.
  • Book 1, 2, General: Hikaru starts with the item Garanteen when it becomes available. Kanna starts with the item Kanna's Necklace. Ziel starts equipped with Ziel's Sword. Fixed Scaldar's Lurker Burrow using the wrong voice set. Gave Miranda's 5th class Cone of Heat instead of Firewall. Ziel's damage type changed to Chaos damage for all classes. Fixed bug where Kanna and Ziel don't get the correct Team Color upon loading (not that this matters). Unlock requirements for Shizuka's 8th and 9th hidden classes should be consistent between the Intro and Fight Dragon.
  • Book 1, Chapter 1: Reduced base volume of Ekim's theme to a level that won't annihilate your ears.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: Shion and his lieutenants can no longer be raised from the dead or are eligible targets for Animate/Raise Dead. Feldarin changed into a Necromancer general.
  • Book 1, Secret Level: Add checks to turn on the button graphic for Tanya's Mana Regeneration ability upon loading instead of only upon learning the skill.
  • Book 1, Chapter 3: Fixed bug where Ebon could spawn more than once. Moved Hokuto out of the battle arena once her part is finished.
  • Book 1, Chapter 6: Changed Kanna's Footmen to Neutral Passive.
  • Book 1, Chapter 8: Lord Kosseimaru only gains Frost Wave in Heroic mode and only after he reaches 2100 HP, instead of you collecting all the Journals and having it from the start.
  • Book 2, Chapter 2: Hints suggesting Nerubian Warriors can attack trees have been removed; they cannot actually do this. References to Spider Lords changed to Guardians because Spider Lords as a basic unit haven't existed in a long time. Ziel no longer asks for a weapon.
  • Book 2, Chapter 4: Mongrethod is no longer removed in Easy mode so the Dragon Horn quest can be completed.
  • Book 2, Chapter 6: The story will properly advance in Easy mode once the single Night Dragon is killed.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7, Part 1: Arcadia's Chosen Hero is invincible until you rescue all the souls.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7, Part 2: Lord Kosseimaru no longer casts Frost Waves in the cutscenes. Feldarin changed into a Necromancer general.
  • Book 2, Chapter 8: Recorded a longer version of the final boss theme 'Second Armageddon'. The instrumentation is slightly different from the original recording, but it is close enough (it is extremely unlikely that I could find the old soundfont used). Notably it does not loop at the same spot as the OST.
  • Book 2, Secret Level: Shizuka and Ziel versions should load from the Epilogue instead of directly from Chapter 8.
  • Book 3, General: Deathclaw's Death Spiral tooltip changed to reflect how much damage it actually does. Fixed a bug where Deathclaw could cast Death Spiral twice with every cast in certain levels. Fixed Deathclaw's Death spiral final area being smaller than it should be. Added Kurumi's minor Blade Kraken.
  • Book 3, Chapter 7: Changed the outfit Kasumi gave Kurumi into something more appropriately silly (originally this was straight-up a Nurse outfit, but that doesn't exist anymore).
  • Book 3, Epilogue: Changed the unit IDs of the Jin Allied Heroes to fix a potential data bug. Replaced Baghtru Skullsplitter (Warchief) with Ad Avis (Spell Slayer) because Baghtru acts like a dumbass with every single one of his spells. Renamed several Heroes after Three Kingdoms figures. Moved the Fountain of Magic NPCs closer to the Yellow Turban side of the map since they always get there first.
  • Book 4, General: Fixed Kasumi (unarmed) using the wrong model.
  • Book 4, Introduction: Silence Hikaru's nonexistant unit responses.
  • Book 4, Chapter 4: Added additional checks to make sure Abolisher starts with the Orb of Death if he is eligible to be carrying it.
  • Book 4, Shop: Silence Mizuki's nonexistant unit responses.
  • Book 5, General: Fixed Murloc models' file paths to be pointing at the right place. Fixed Kasumi's name if you learned their true name. Elven Footmen now have Team Color. 'Gryphon Aviary' is now named the 'Aviary' with the same hotkey. Changed instances of 'Krivilla Tribe' to 'Piscosis Tribe'. 'Blood Elf Officer' model removed and are simply regular Spellbreaker Officers. Added Kosseimaru voice set.
  • Book 5, Chapter 3: Fixed raid Knights using the wrong unit. Fixed Dalles using the wrong model.
  • Book 5, Chapter 4: Gunther's army now has access to Archers and also gain access to the Aviary (and therefore Eagle Riders). Kobold Slingers removed. Nekurow's army now has access to Knights. Gunther's army is a consolidation of his and Jenna's army from previous levels, and his and Nekurow's armies are functionally identical (the only real difference is Nekurow still uses Elven Footmen). There is no reason why Nekurow would have straight access to Jenna's army.
  • Book 5, Chapter 7: The Aviary can train Eagle Riders as well as Gryphon Riders if you choose to keep using them.
  • Book 5, Chapter 8, Part 1: Idle units now belong to the Knights of Tran instead of the Chaos Legion. Ambush units no longer take up Food supply.
  • Book 5, Chapter 8, Part 4: Fixed Surtur being killed by his own allies in the cutscene. Fixed city Catapults attacking during the cutscene.
  • Book 5, Secret Level 1: Changed the name of the second Main Quest to 'Zava the Merciless' and truncated the description.
  • Book 5, Secret Level 2: Fixed Metallus's voice set to be consistent with his other appearances.
  • Book 6, General: Fixed availability for an additional class for Hikaru (Dragon Slayer), Shizuka (Deathclaw), and Kurumi (Warlock). Added extra checks to make sure Kurumi is able to use her Chaos Sentinel (all of her classes use this because her route is designed with her having it). Added Mizuki sound set (although it is missing the Pissed responses, but you can live with that). Changed name of Zava's Card. Araj the Summoner's model updated. Added Kosseimaru voice set.
  • Book 6, Sorceria Core: Added black boundary terrain to the ceiling to enforce it being impassible terrain. Fixed Zava's name on Kurumi's version loading screen. Renamed Razlia Punisher unit name for compatibility purposes.
  • X1, Chapter 5: Renamed Guardian unit's model for compatibility purposes.
  • X2, General: Fixed Miranda missing her portrait camera for her Intermission model. Removed redundant copy of Shion's voice set (which is unused).
  • X2, Chapter 2: The Oracle's colors should be consistent with the rest of her team. Fountain of Restoration replaced with the Monolith version which restores HP and Mana faster (which should also fix a potential data bug).

Arcana Second Armageddon. (5 MB) High Quality full version of the final boss theme in Book 2.

News for 2/10/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • General: Fixed Kurumi and Shizuka to disable the Alternate animation while using Oracle Synthesis for the classes that use it.
  • Book 1, General: Fixed Kanna using an older version model.
  • Book 1, Chapter 1: Moved the Hard mode Creep Spawning to start after the Nekurow encounter instead of the Intro cutscene to prevent the spawning Kobolds from interfering with said cutscene.
  • Book 1, Chapter 6: 'Mission of Mercy' is correctly listed as a Required Quest instead of Optional on the Quest page.
  • Book 2, General: Fixed Kanna using an older version model. Hikaru, Johan, Scaldar, and Kosseimaru no longer start with Chaos damage by default (Scaldar's Lurker Burrow still deals Chaos damage). These same Heroes will gain Chaos damage when the story calls for it. Miranda no longer deals Chaos damage. Hikaru and Miranda's 5th class, and Scaldar's 4th class will still do Chaos damage by default due to the nature of the classes. For the Secret Level, Miranda, Ziel, and Hokuto gain Chaos damage so they won't be as useless in the gauntlet (the same isn't true for Kasumi, Tendaro, Higure, and Tanya if you have them). Shizuka, Nekurow, and Kanna always have Chaos damage because they start with their own special weapons.
  • Book 2, Chapter 2: Hikaru (Chaos Lord) no longer comes equipped with the Angel Sword as he already has a weapon.
  • Book 2, Chapter 3: Fixed Caravan guards not responding to attacks from roving units belonging to the 'Arcadia's Chosen' faction. Fixed Mastyrial Warmage icon. Fixed allowed building tech (just Necropolis, Spirit Towers, Graveyard, and Royal Ziggurats-- which have Warriors, Necromancers, and Warmages available as options).
  • Book 2, Secret Level: "Campaign Creations" starts as an Allied teammate of "The Sorcerians" instead of its own faction to prevent an occasional RNG bug that treats the two factions as initially hostile, which causes the Black Dream to annihilate all of your player characters (this is already the case for the similar Dragon Slayer Arena in Book 5). You can still attack them if you really want to.
  • Book 3, Interlude 2: Fixed Scaldar using the old model. Changed the Crypt Fiend general into a Necromancer general. Replaced Abomination Guards with Spider Lords.
  • Book 4, Chapter 5: Sorceria Expedition can no longer be approached by flyers, summoned units, or illusions. Raised undead weapon/armor research cap to maximum.
  • Book 4, Chapter 7: Warmage Adept Training should consistently start at Lv.2. Fixed Kurumi's model in the ending cutscene.
  • Book 4, Secret Level 1: Fixed Sealed Shizuka using the wrong model.
  • Book 4, Chapter 8 Part 2: Fixed Sealed Shizuka using the wrong model (which consequently also fixes Sorana's Sealed form model in the same level).
  • Book 5, General: Added checks to help make sure Hikaru and Zule start with their swords if they somehow lost them. Added missing texture for Kasumi's Sealed form.
  • Book 5, Chapter 4: Gunther's army gains Kobold Slingers as ranged units if you rescued Taskmaster Rijik earlier. If you don't rescue Rijik and pick Gunther you still have no ranged units. Added check to make sure Nekurow starts with the Red Moon Blade equipped.
  • Book 5, Secret Level 1: The ninja faction is now called 'Hanagumi Ninja' instead of the defunct 'Kagero Clan'. The ninja heroes' names pull from a pool of flowers, naturally (or, at least, the ones I haven't used yet since a lot of my characters are already theme named after flowers).
  • Book 5, Chapter 5: Hub music theme replaced with another Legacy of the Wizard theme. Fixed Tarantunes Golems not activating, including an issue caused if you attacked Rockgaea first. Changed the Mystic Crossbow into the Magic Key (which is what it should have been in the first place). Changed the Sealed Gates into Units instead of Doodads so you don't have to click each individual unit in order to destroy them; you should auto acquire and attack them once you have the Magic Key. Changed the graphics of the Sealed Gates to something other than an ice pillar. Reduced the health of the Sliding Gates and the Rolling Stone Door.
  • Book 5, Chapter 6: Hikaru will start at Level 10 on this level regardless of what level he was previously. Replaced the model of the Murloc Assassin to one that won't crash the game. Murloc Assassins no longer have Shadow Meld or Shadow Strike. Removed the Murloc Assassins in Easy difficulty. Reduced damage from Clench's Chemical Tank. Removed Reincarnation from Gorbash (because there's honestly no point to him having it as he's already a damage sponge). Fixed Cinder using the wrong model.
  • Book 6, General: Fixed Kasumi's Sealed form model texture so it doesn't crash the game when used.

News for 1/26/19

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • General: Model updates for Shizuka, Deathclaw, Miranda, Kanna, Kurumi, Sazabi, Dalles (Lich), Jenna, Razlia (initial form), Keela, Metallus, Scaldar (added missing particle effects), Queen Corona, Chika (Princess outfit), Bannon (again; see below), generic Bunny Girl (I don't know if this is actually used, but the one in the files looks HORRIBLE), most generic Zande Heroes and Units (see below), Nerubian Necromancer, Mastyrial Defiler, Sorana Goons. Texture updates for Shadra. Fixed Ebon's model so she's not standing so far back. Fixed Yue Fang's weapon attachment being on the wrong hand (she is left-handed unlike almost every other character having the attachment on their right hand) and oriented the ribbon emitter for her attacks in the correct angle. Changed animation tags around for Tendaro for more appropriate effects for her spells. Fixed Mastyrial Warmage portrait. Fixed Nekurow and Sorana's run animations. Fixed Sorana's claws vanishing upon attacking.
  • General: Update Seal of Oracles model for Hikaru (Gothic Lolita), Johan (Cartoon Burglar), Shizuka (Sailor Schoolgirl), Yue Fang (Chicken mascot), Kasumi (Hot Dog mascot). Nekurow's Seal transformation is now the Sammy Cube (more visible than a 2D stick figure). The Generic Seal of Oracles changed to the Generic Bunny Girl (may as well use it for something?).
  • General: Splash screen portraits updated for Dalles, Bannon, Sazabi, Metallus, Jenna, Gunther. Keela's portrait (and the painting) are being left alone.
  • General: Nerubian Tech Tree altered. Replaced Mastyrial Guardian with Jormungar Guardian with the same abilities, only a more distinguishable profile (the scorpid is too low to the ground for an aura as huge as Disease Cloud). Swapped unit icons for Nerubian Stinger and Mastyrial Defiler; they had each others to begin with. Nerubian Necromancers start with Raise Dead deactivated. Bloodriders are now called Chaos Riders (doubly so since they're the only Chaos Legion that doesn't have the 'chaos' prefix now). Nerubian Necromancers and Mastyrial Warmages should consistently cost 2 Food.
  • General: Zande Tech Tree altered. Seraphs of Purity, whether the Demon Hunters or the Angels, and the Succubus, are all now collectively called Ascendants to make clear they are all from the same class line and function along a similar 'evolutionary' path as the other Zande do-- in this case the presence of wings, 'bestowed' by the goddess. This is similar in the cases of the other units (eg the Archers and Rangers, the Assassins and Wardens). Sorana's character class is now also called Ascendant in turn (although she is otherwise no different from before... maybe more depraved). See below for further explanation.
  • General: Changed all Music triggers to remove 'Stop Music' and 'Set Music to 100%' because the new War3 sound system doesn't play nice with them. Renamed all the Music files to remove spaces (supposedly this is an old Mac problem which I'm not sure is relevant anymore).
  • General: All references to the Shodo-Pan removed. Nobody remembers the Pandaren April Fools joke these days.
  • Book 1, 2: Removed all references to the original RoC Hero versions (if you can still access them from a previously played save they are still functional-- you just can't ever get them again). Nekurow's Dark Summoner skin should now match between Books 1 and 2 (the Lich King skin). Nekurow's default class no longer moves at horse speed (since he no longer rides a horse). Nekurow's Dark Lord skin is once again based on Dark Fact (at least it looks a lot more like him this time around). Hokuto's Bunny Girl skin replaced with one inspired by Ys Feena. Kanna's Battle Medic outfit is now a white mage dress. Miranda's Idol Singer and Bunny Girl classes use Critical Strike instead of Flame Saber and Cleaving Strike to fix animation issues. Ascendants are replaced with either Priestess of the Waves or Priestess of the Winds in most instances.
  • Book 1, General: Fixed wrong icon on Mastyrial Warmage. Fixed Ziggurat/Spirit Tower/Nerubian Tower graphics back to default Undead instead of Nerubian flavor. Playable Arcadian Army can no longer build the Boneyard and instead builds the Tomb of Relics (consider they couldn't build it in the first place). Slaughterhouse and Soul Spire units are consolidated onto one building to save space (any pre-placed Slaughterhouses and Boneyards are still used by the computer as usual). Soul Reapers should consistently require the Sacrificial Pit and the Black Citadel while the Soul Spire has the same requirements as the Slaughterhouse.
  • Book 1, Chapter 1: Removed initial startup cooldown on Potion of Healing and Potion of Mana. Removed Ivory Tower from the Arcane Vault.
  • Book 1, Chapter 4: Arcadian Royal Guard Towers will no longer shoot the Stone Form Gargoyles. All player-owned Royal Guard Towers are removed on Hard mode (the computer still owns some in their own base). Yes, this trivializes the achievement. It also means the enemy AI doesn't perpetually get stuck outside of your town (unless of course you make a new town out there...).
  • Book 1, Chapter 5: Kanna no longer yells when pushing illusions/summons/Shades/flying units into the Resistance base. Power Generator units will now prioritize destroying the Arcadian main base instead of seeking out any random living unit (even the ones they couldn't possibly kill). Destroyer Form is automatically researched regardless of acquiring the Forge, although you still can't use Destroyer Form without the Forge unlocked.
  • Book 1, Chapter 6: Enemy Heroes will no longer attempt to revive at dead Altars of Darkness.
  • Book 2, General: Nerubians in Book 2 can no longer summon the Boneyard while Defilers can be trained at the Soul Spire (Lord Kosseimaru can still raise Frost Wyrms with his own skill and you can still use any pre-placed Boneyards if available); the Forge takes its place on the command card instead of the Tomb of Relics. Removed the redundant copy of the Graveyard from the Nerubian tech tree; it no longer serves its original purpose. Trolls no longer have access to the Pulverize research (they couldn't use it anyway) and their shop building renamed from the Forge to the Goods Exchange (there is already another Forge building). All Forest Trolls are called just Trolls now ('Forest' descriptor is unneeded and makes their names too long).
  • Book 2, Chapter 2: Moved Kosseimaru's message to the other side of the Waygate if you approach that building location. Added an extra Gold Mine for veteran players to make use of (you still need to make the Necropolis in one of the designated spots).
  • Book 2, Chapter 4: The Trading Post no longer requires any unit in order to trade for gold; it is now closer to the base and owned by the player (while it cannot be destroyed, it also doesn't count for the purposes of saving your base). Pillage Buildings near the Halls of the Dead moved further away. Mongrethod starts out as a Neutral unit until he becomes available as a Quest objective (and therefore won't attempt to defend the Radik base until then). The Demon Gate quest will reveal the location of the Demon Gate if you don't find it before the first demons appear. Succubus (Easy mode) and Vile Temptress (Normal mode) replaced by Zande Aspirants (Hard mode they remain Doom Guards).
  • Book 2, Chapter 6: Vengeances no longer have Shadow Meld (I don't think they were using it in the first place). Removed obsolete dialogue between Kanna and Hikaru.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7: The Forge starts with Siege Engines available instead of having no units at the start (consequently it no longer starts with the Pulverize research for a unit you can't use yet). Waygates will no longer be disabled after rescuing all of the Heroes. Remove the Pig Farms in addition to the other Viperfang buildings if you didn't ally with Sazabi earlier. Reiko's 'health' starts out higher from the onset instead of increasing as she fuses summons (depending on difficulty-- on Easy she gets no bonus HP; on Normal 3000 HP; on Hard she gets the full 6000 HP). Reiko will also enter her 'spaz' mode at 4000 HP instead of 3000 HP. Fixed Velcana using the wrong model.
  • Book 2, Epilogue: Number of Chaos Soldiers at the start should be consistent between watching the cutscene and skipping it (eight Soldiers instead of ten). Chaos Sentinels should appear where they should be. Music should be consistent between skipping the final cutscene and watching it.
  • Book 3, General: Summoner duels can now be done directly by using abilities from Shizuka instead of using the ESC menu. Cutscenes during the duels can now be skipped. Losing cutscenes expanded and penalties rearranged (with the most humiliating being if you lost to Miyuki, because you kind of deserve it).
  • Book 3, Intro: Costume Parade cinematics are now skippable. Changed the replay versions (requires buying Shizuka's final Journal upgrade or finishing Book 6) of the costumes around so the Lolita outfit replaces the Mint copslay instead of the Nemesis cosplay (which in turn is replaced by a completely new costume skit) which ultimately makes more sense toward Shizuka's sensibilities (the Nemesis outfit is received negatively so the replacement skit is also negative which is the opposite of how she feels about the Lolita outfit)-- Shizu consistently favors the second choice. As a result the only ending choice costume skits that don't change are the ones with her playable class outfits and the Jester outfit (because that one affects a couple of events).
  • Book 3, Chapter 5: Changed Flame Hounds into Flame Scorpions that cast Firebolt instead of Mana Burn.
  • Book 3, Epilogue: Pirate Captain's name changed to something a little less phallic (nobody remembers The Goonies either).
  • Book 3, Secret Level: Changed priority flags around so it's easier to have access to the Feat of Strength (it also required getting Shizuka's Lolita outfit which makes no sense since it has nothing to do with the achievement).
  • Book 4, General: Fixed Seal of Oracles using the wrong models against Kasumi and Kurumi, especially the Chapter 6 cutscene.
  • Book 4, Chapter 2: Fixed Cinder using the old model in the cutscene.
  • Book 4, Chapter 3: Removed full-screen stills from the ending.
  • Book 4, Chapter 4 Intermission: Abolisher's lengthy multiple choice speech is now skippable. Changed the random side story about the lobster to talk about Kasumi and Kurumi's Sealed forms since Shizuka can't be Sealed until the story calls for it.
  • Book 4, Chapter 8, Part 2: The Cauldron arena has a permanent visibiliity modifier applied to it. The amount of times you can be defeated by Sorana decreased: Easy = 3 times, Normal = 2 times, and Hard remains 1 time. Using this up triggers the defeat cutscene; that means if Sorana defeats you just once on Hard difficulty you go straight to the defeat cutscene without a revival option. Consequently you can only get one of the special 'defeat' titles from Easy difficulty (and Sorana's dirty mouth is less likely to grace your screen for the same reason). Losing cutscene expanded.
  • Book 5, General: Random Arachnathid beetle-type units (Venomdarts, Firestarters, Invaders) replaced with Scorpids.
  • Book 5, Chapter 3: Changed ownership of all Gold Mines back to Neutral Passive.
  • Book 5, Secret Level 1: Changed unit consistency of the Pirate and the Ninja armies. The Pirates have more nautical themed names while the Ninja are a little more in line with their portrayal in previous Books (which is to say they're even more of a fanservice band).
  • Book 5, Chapter 5: Fixed 'statue' units changing ownership from Passive Guardians back to Hostile Guardians. Boss Healing Wards replaced with Healing Totems (cast Heal instead of the healing aura) and once again can drop Runes of Restoration upon being destroyed. Pillars are now hidden during the boss fight. Cutscene stills removed. Seal of Oracles has an additional 20 seconds between casts and lasts shorter. Keela's Cleaving Attack damage reduced (it retains the usual damage in the Secret Level) and no longer can cast Time Stop.
  • Book 5, Chapter 6: Removed the pickup item for unlocking the Secret Level. You always unlocked it regardless if you picked it up or not so there is no point to having the item. Added an extra dialogue option for Sypha concerning Mizuki (Ziel's dialogue about Mizuki suggested you talked to Sypha, but Sypha never had this option).
  • Book 6, North District: Removed the two northern bases for every version of the map save Shizuka's. The South Mur'gul base is removed for Hikaru's version (apparently Worker units can't swim while carrying resources for whatever reason and that was the only base on the map that had a body of water dividing it).
  • X1: Fixed Kurumi's portrait using the wrong model.
  • X2: Gave the Zerg Roach and Ravager new death animations, because the old one sucked. Added special high resolution models for Miranda and Shizuka in 'Another Day' which have rigged fingers (you'd understand when you see it).

Re: Bannon. It was always my intention to give him the Heroes of the Storm Dragon Knight model, but the newer one is inappropriate for that purpose (not to mention it's REALLY heavy on the polys). It wasn't until later I found out I already still had the original version. It helps a ton that the silhouette is roughly the same as the War3 Doom Guard; he's just using a giant axe instead of a Fel Sword.

Re: Zande. Ranger, Mage, Priestess of the Moon, Warden, Sorceress, Archer, Hippygryph, Hippogryph Rider, Huntress, Assassin, Witch (the latter two being completely different now instead of copies of each other, although the Witch variant is used more often), Sentry, Spirit of Vengeance (replaces the crappy Banshee model so you'll see a lot of them in the Tower of the Gods and not just hanging around with high level Wardens), Succubus (also completely different from the Witch model), Shrine Maiden. All of these except the Hippogryph, Witch and the Shrine Maiden are based off Starcraft 2 Warcraft 3 HD models (with some clever editting for some of them).

Re: Ascendants. It's understated that Shizuka is responsible for the creation of the Zande (although this happened before the campaign story) and their ideology is borne out of her subconscious, with Sorana being a sort of personification of it (not exactly, though, since the witches' society had time to develop since then). Whenever accepting Deathclaw's power Shizuka refuses to use his wings, which Sorana readily accepts (but can't use them in any meaningful way since she doesn't have Deathclaw). The 'Zande goddess' is pure fluff and doesn't exist (a conceit of Shizuka's thoughts about being a priestess of a known phony god) so the wings are granted by Arcadia. The Ascendants (and Sorana) formerly being labelled as 'succubus' should give the general impression that they're letting thier 'basic instincts' (such as it is) drive them.

TO DO: Possibly Jin units (including the three Paladin Bosses), Draconian Oracle (it looks fine? that certainly aged better than most models).

Wanderers of Sorceria 3rd Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Book 5, Chapter 3: Changed ownership of all Gold Mines back to Neutral Passive. Changed ownership of the Gravity Towers to the player.
  • Book 5, Chapter 5: Fixed 'statue' units changing ownership from Passive Guardians back to Hostile Guardians.

News for 12/17/18

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • General: Model updates for Cinder (God of Fire), Zule (he has HAIR! no more male pattern baldness), Gunther, Kasumi, Abolisher, Yue Fang, Miyuki, Sypha (human form), Kazgaroth, Ebon, Bannon, Spiderling, Nerubian Stinger, Mastyrial Warmage, Mastyrial Guardian, Queen Corona, Spinorak, Velcana, Chitinstrike, and other misc Nerubian Heroes ('Warriors', 'Rogues', and 'Casters'). Fixed Scaldar's model. Fixed Nargul's model.
  • General: Fixed Nekurow's movement speed animations. Added support for various Heroes to accomodate Walk Fast animations. Abolisher's Necromorphosis has a slightly reduced cooldown and costs no mana and Raise Dead now costs only 25 mana.
  • General: Added Gainaxing effect to the following front-heavy girls: Kasumi, Zava, Shyron, Sorana, Kotetsu, older Kurumi.
  • Book 1, General: Book 1's Campaign Menu screen features Hikaru instead of a generic footman. Upres the texture for Hikaru's default sword so it doesn't look like a pixelated piece of crap (as much).
  • Book 1, Book 2: Spinorak's Hero abilities are more story-appropriate than just straight Dreadlord abilities. Thunder Lizard creeps replaced by Jormungar.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2, Epilogue: The Crypt Fiend NPCs in Coron Nerub are now living Nerubians matching their Book 2 appearance. Crypt Fiends are explicitly a product of the Army of the Dead-raised undead.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: The side quest "The Plague" is rewritten assuming that the malady is in fact a curse and not a disease.
  • Book 1, Chapter 4: Mastyrial Warmages automatically start with all spells available.
  • Book 1, Chapter 5: The Forge is unlocked along with the associated units when completing Ayame's side quest.
  • Book 2, Chapter 2: Nerubian Webspinners are correctly available to train.
  • Book 2, Chapter 4: Pre-placed Spitting Spiders replaced with Webspinners which supplanted them on the tech tree.
  • Book 2, Chapter 7: Mizuki now has abilities to directly summon beasts instead of running to COPs. Replaced the Salamander Summon with a Stinger Scorpion and Blade Salamander with Blade Stinger.
  • Book 2, Chapter 8: Fixed Czarzeau's model in the cutscene to match his previous appearances.
  • Book 3, General: Book 3's Campaign Menu screen features Zule instead of a random red orc. Kagero and Kotetsu now have their own maid models (instead of the generic one) as their 'civilian' clothes. Kasumi and Kurumi also have similar 'civilian' clothes. Count Zule employs ninja maids.
  • Book 3, Intermission 1: Jin Archers are now using the correct model. Depite the fact that Zule's Chaos Legion doesn't use Blood Riders anymore, one is still used here because it's not been revealed he's behind the attack yet; see below.
  • Book 4, General: Changed the Blood Rider's model to the 'alternate' Death Knight model that's been laying around forever because it looks better.
  • Book 4, 6: Fixed Shizuka costumes (Gothic Lolita, Alice cosplay). Fixed Kurumi (Zande)'s face. Vektra Prawns are now Vektra Harvesters (and therefore should no longer be confused with Summoned Prawns).
  • Book 4, Chapter 7: Fixed Zava's name.
  • Book 5, General: Book 5's Campaign Menu screen features Yue Fang instead of a slutmog Shizuka.
  • Book 5, Chapter 1: The Nightblade's name is now fixed to Chitinstrike to match with the Achievement criteria.
  • Book 5, Chapter 2: The Nerubian Army no longer owns the Airship Drydocks or Airships, and therefore will no longer attempt to defend their base with Airships. The Airships will still defend the Drydocks as usual.
  • Book 5, Chapter 3: Fixed Yue Fang's mounted model's crappy animations. Added a new path between the Chaos Legion base and the main Arcadian base.
  • Book 6, General: Book 6's Campaign Menu screen features a 'better' model of Shizuka. Free Mode Shyron given the correct version of Starfall (the one Shizuka uses in her 1P and 2P version from Books 1 and 2); she's now supposed to be mostly reminiscent of Shizuka's earlier ability set.
  • Book 6, X2: Reduced the size of the Idol and Faerie skirt attachments so they aren't comically oversized. Slightly improved the Holiday outfit leg textures. Improved Holiday outfit skirt for Shizuka and Kurumi.
  • Book 6: Changed Scaldar's Burrow Charge ability to be based on Dark Portal instead of Breath of Fire. Arctic Blast is now based on Breath of Fire instead (functionally this doesn't alter the ability).
  • X1, X2: Changed Vance's Berserker Slash to be based on Dark Portal instead of Carrion Swarm.
  • X1, Chapter 4: Added and moved some doodads to reduce the possibility of getting stuck behind obstacles you shouldn't be able to walk over.

Generally the Chaos Legion Heroes are arranged as follows: Zule's army uses Draconian Lord (Varaskil), Draconian Oracle (Kengal), and Kunoichi (casters and strikers). Generics use Blood Rider, Chaos Judge, and Chaos Giant (which only appears once because reasons).

TO DO: Sazabi, Jenna. Sazabi is Zandalari and Jenna is semi important and needs an update badly.

Maybe: Jarek, Draconian Oracle, Shadra, Zande units. Shadra is also Zandalari, but she's very unimportant.

News for 11/24/18

Wanderers of Sorceria 4th Edition updated with the following changes:

  • Books 1 through 6: Fixed Miranda and Kurumi's Pop Idol models which were missing animations. That's what you get for not being careful enough with version control.
  • Book 1, Chapter 2: Restored the missing Nerubians in Corona. Restored the missing town villagers and Miranda's dance. Moved a couple of the villagers around so you can actually talk to them, instead of having them being hidden by the town buildings.
  • Book 1, Epilogue: Random items can no longer drop during the Summoner Duel.
  • Book 2, Chapter 2: Restored Blight Carrier and other missing NPCs on the map. Removed the Mur'guls in the northeastern part of the map. Static Zande, Demons, and Satyr now belong to the faction Arcadia's Chosen instead of being Neutral Hostile (they still drop gold).
  • Book 2, Chapter 6: Renamed the faction Zande Rangers into Arcadia's Chosen. Zava is instead part of the Tower Guardians faction (functionally this doesn't change anything).
  • Book 3, Secret Level: Fixed missing Kurumi in cutscenes.
  • Book 5, Secret Level: Fixed missing critters.
  • Book 5, Chapter 6: Removed a problematic rogue Footman that somehow got on the map.
  • Book 6, Nexus District: Fixed the missing Goblin Merchant.
  • Book 6, West District: Moved quest ping for Kurumi's version to the underground altar.
  • Book 6, South District: Fixed missing Harpoon post and Magma Serpents.
  • Book 6, Sorceria Core: Fixed more references to Zava's name. Added more Free Mode intros to the final boss with Dalles, Metallus, Abolisher, and the five possible remaining Sorceria governors (generic to all of them) in addition to Gina's version. The final boss hates filthy aliens and monsters. Removed a rogue model.
  • Book 6, Secret Level: Removed all of the Rat critters from the map. Critters are also not supposed to be on this map.

Amusingly, I found an item I hid in the Chapter 2 town I completely forgot was there. It's only a Greater Healing Potion, though.

  • Book 2, Chapter 8: Fixed missing Shizuka, et al. in the last part of the ending cutscene.

KNOWN ISSUES: The timing of the cutscenes in Books 1 and 2 are off; that will take much more time to fix either on my end or on Blizzard's end in fixing the sound engine.

  • Book 1,2: Fixed Blade Kraken graphic in the intro cutscenes.
  • Book 1: Chapter 2 Crypt Fiends should no longer cost Food when burrowed.
  • Book 2: Fixed the random Stoneskin Gargoyles so they're all statues once again. Gargoyles are still not useable in this campaign.

  • Book 2: All Pit Lord Heroes, including Brutillus, no longer have Reincarnation and therefore won't run away after reviving.
  • Book 3: Gemstone Obelisks are now Invulnerable (not that you could kill them before, but one of them is marked as a 'hostile' unit).
  • Book 6: Free Mode Shyron abilities changed to something less random.
  • Book 6: Removed the random Sludge Monstrosity creep from the secret mission. There should be no Creeps on this map.

  • X2: Fixed civilian models' walk animations.

News for 4/11/18

Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne has updated to Patch 1.29. However, with these changes came a number of other changes that altered how older custom maps work and Wanderers of Sorceria is no exception. I am in the process of updating all the maps to accommodate these changes. All Books are updated with the following changes:

UPDATED 4/14

  • Ayame and Kasumi have new models. Ayame is now sporting a tinker look instead of a school uniform and Kasumi now has her classic look when appropriate (the one she has up to Book 4, Book 5 still has the emo haircut)
  • Kosseimaru's Raise Dead skill has a new hotkey.
  • Kurumi (Summoner)'s nuke spell Soul Blight is now based on Forked Lightning instead of Finger of Death.
  • Chaos Bladers now use Soul Blight instead of Death Coil. Chaos Bladers in Book 3, Chapter 3 cannot use Soul Blight OR Death Coil, so Bannon can't get nuked anymore.
  • Book 3, Chapter 5, 7, 8: Cannon Towers can no longer be built by the Jin Army.
  • Book 5, Chapter 3, 8: Cannon Towers can no longer be built by the Jin Army.
  • Book 5, Dragon Slayer Arena: Chaos Soldiers and Chaos Bladers have normal stats. Thakras, Kabala, and Xaax no longer speak their obnoxious sound bites.
  • 4/14: Book 1 Hero Selection improved. You can now see what abilities each Hero has. Select the Intro in order to access it. All selectable campaign Hero Classes are done at once for anyone who beat Book 1 at least once.
  • 4/14: Added back the class for Shizuka for achieving the Feat of Strength 'Solidarity' (and hence all the 'Solidarity' story sequence makes sense again). Added a new Hero Class for Kurumi.
  • 4/14: Hero Class Revival Hotkeys made universal per character
  • 4/14: Book 3: Losing a Summoner Duel in the tournament has its penalty changed to only affect the Duel Hero alone. Each duel lost gives a different penalty costume. Consequently, you can now Forfeit a duel if you want to humiliate Shizuka (requires beating Book 2).
  • 4/14: Book 3: Fixed potential crash from one of Shizuka's extra models
  • 4/14: Book 4 Hero Selection improved. You can now see what abilities each Hero has. Select the Intro in order to access it.
  • 4/14: Book 5 Lizardmen received model updates (Gluma Lizardmen). Vindicators now have a training Hotkey as expected. Stats of all Lizardmen units changed (more like nerfed).
  • 4/14: Book 5: Hikaru's Secret Class now deals Chaos damage along with the other Classes as intended.

Known Issues

  • All animated textures (Water elementals, waterfalls, Cinder!!) no longer function. This is a Warcraft 3 issue and I can't fix this, sorry.
  • The display for ability cooldowns are not functioning correctly.
  • Blizzard specifically disabled Special Effects triggers in this patch, ref. Patch Notes.

News for 10/28/17

An updated version of Wanderers of Sorceria X2 has been released. Among the changes:

  • Three new playables stages- a follow-up to Chapter 2, the fight pitting Shizuka and Ziel against Pixy Amy's monster, and another short adventure with Vance.
  • General: Zerglings and Hydralisk now have Starcraft 2 appearances just like the rest of the Zerg units.
  • General: Fixed general projectile scaling issues, particularly among Zerg units.
  • General: Extra costumes from completing sections of the story reduced. A few are now given out in one of the new stages.
  • General: Interlude visits can now always be skipped without visiting anyone.
  • General: Criteria for Omake skits lowered to collecting Journal pages and buying the final Journal upgrade in the shop.
  • Chapter 1: Zerg structures no longer have Spiked Barriers. Banelings no longer kill their own allies or each other.
  • Chapter 2: Enemy difficulty reduced in both Normal and Easy mode. Hard mode is now what Normal mode used to be.
  • Interlude 1: Removed Omake 1. Consequently Omake 2 is now Omake 1. Omake 2 from the Epilogue is now Omake 2.
  • Interlude 2: Changed the Wicked Bear so it now eats its victim instead of having it described for you. Captured victims have their hands tied behind their back instead of in front. Omake 1 looks a lot more like you would think. Reduced the more explicit horror in some of the skits (they're still horrific, though).
  • Epilogue: Omake 2 moved to Interlude 1; see above. Omake 3 is now Omake 2.

  • General: Fixed all abilities based on Flame Strike so they once again destroy Trees and Debris. This includes Firewall, Eclipse Blast, Mirror Slice, Nuclear Strike, and Acid Bomb (Flamestrike version).
  • General: Models for Sorana and Kurumi-Succubus now possess gag boobs.
  • General: Updated Doom Guard and Succubus. Succubi are now a regular Satyr unit in Books 1 and 2 in addition to being in Book 4, replacing Satyr Soulburners (stats and abilities remain the same). Doom Guards are scaled slightly smaller along with their model update.
  • General: Xevious the Bright has a new model (instead of a Kodo Rider and an Orc Grunt). His ability loadout in Book 6 Free Mode is now identical to Vance's moveset in X1 (as an opponent Xevious's abilities remain the same).
  • Book 4, General: Female Necromancers now have the same model as the ones in Book 5. Male Necromancers are back to their default Warcraft 3 form and are eligible for Raise Dead again. Acolytes are now eligible for Raise Dead again.
  • Book 5, General: Use alternate animation for Female Necromancers. Acolytes are now eligible for Raise Dead again.
  • Book 5, Chapter 5: Hokuto now removes the trees blocking the road to Tarantunes' lair regardless of what choice you pick.
  • Book 6, General: Added extra character options for the main Heroes. They are the old costume-switching models so nothing too exciting... although they now showcase previously unused models that were made before the old costume system was removed.

News for 07/13/17

In celebration of renewed interest in Warcraft III, Wanderers of Sorceria receives graphical updates and bugfixes.

All campaigns from Book 1 through Book 6, and X1 and X2, are updated. Included in the changes are:

General

  • Hokuto, Kanna, Shion, and Ziel have new voice responses.
  • General model updates all across the board for many of the key player characters (and some NPCs).
  • General improvement to Achievement acquisition, particularly to prevent variable taint from other sources.
  • Zerglings are now dirt cheap to train. Feel free to suicide them.

Book 1

  • Most instances of the name 'Redeye' are replaced with 'Magical Lumina', Miranda's magical girl identity. She's still known for her red eyes, though, and will still occasionally be referred to as such.
  • "Retaliation": Kosseimaru no longer heals himself, and therefore no longer repeats his previous phases. Everything else, including his Heroic mode, remain the same.

Book 2

  • Gold-harvesting Broodlings are provided for veteran players in addition to the previous bonuses.
  • Blade Barriers are now dirt cheap to train and consume no Supply. They still turn into Skeletons upon death.
  • "Foreign Ruin": Defeating Kazgaroth now prevents him from destroying all of your towers during the final attack. Neutral units no longer take part in the final attack. The buildable area in your base is expanded. Music changed to "Final Battle" from Ys I.
  • "Showdown": Keys no longer take up inventory space. Music changed to "Dreaming" from Ys I. Pandaren guardians now leave corpses. Nara no longer drops a dress when defeated (defeating Nara was always enough to unlock Kanna's costume; the item itself was never important). On the other hand the name of the achievement no longer makes sense. Defeating Book 2 once removes some of the Force Walls in the Force Wall maze unless you play Hard mode. The Force Wall in the maze which never opens can now open. The fake Shizuka no longer carries any items by default and will drop all of her items upon being exposed.

Book 3

  • "Jammin' in the Woods": Caravan Wagons are much more fragile and slow enough so Bannon can catch them without Swiftness Aura.

Book 4

  • Sorana's ability to create Goons is now a passive ability for anything she personally kills rather than anything killed with Disruption Web.
  • The Necromancers Nekurow fights are human females rather than male ghosts which can be converted to Goons (or Raised as Skeletons as the case may be).
  • "Orpheus Returns": Music changed to "Tower of the Shadow of Death" from Ys I.
  • "Orpheus' Hunt": Music changed to "Tension" from Ys I.
  • "Orpheus' Journey": Boss Music changed to "Chase of Shadows" from Ys I.

Book 5

  • Computer Ally Jenna no longer interferes with the acquisition of Achievements. Previously she would always force the award of a Feat of Strength from Book 1.
  • Gunther's Army for the first two missions uses Nighthawk Assassins as its basic ranged unit. Although let's be fair, they're kind of overpowered for 'basic' units.
  • "Legacy of the Wizard": Keela's Portrait is now an actual model instead of using the buggy Image graphic triggers. You can still walk all over it as much as you like, though.

Book 6

  • Demigod Scaldar now has Burrow Charge instead of Impale. Vampiric Aura is no longer a Heroic ability, but a free passive ability.
  • The default class for Shizuka no longer plays like a WoW Rogue, but instead has the abilities of her post-campaign self. The original class is still optionally available.
  • The costume system in Book 6 is completely revamped to the system used in X2. Consequently the costume placement has also shuffled, and more than three costumes may be found per District. All costume items passively grant 200 Life and 100 Mana when carried.
  • Morkoth Elite Guards are replaced with Morkoth Brutes, which use Pulverize and War Stomp instead of Summon Sea Elemental and Crushing Wave. Morkoth Legionnaires now have their original Energy Shield spells back (from the original version of Book 6).
  • Sorana has new, inappropriate dialogue if used during Shizuka's scenario. She also summons Dark Minions whenever she kills anything.
  • Free Mode now has the opportunity to collect Bromide Cards from each of the four Districts, five per District, just for fun. These are the same graphics as you've seen before, so no pressure.
  • Kurumi's Chaos Snap now only affects her Chaos Sentinel Ultimate and nothing else. Apologies if you used it to chain her Soul Power, but that's not what it was meant for.
  • Many abilities have additional properties, such as Cone of Heat leaves a flame trail and Volt Wave dispels magic to enemies hit.
  • Items which previously granted Armor now grant Armor again. Items which previously granted Health or Mana grant Health or Mana again.
  • West District: Byakko now properly drops the Tomes of Knowledge if you haven't completed the West District the first time... instead of the South District as it was bugged for the longest time.
  • West District: Seawing Dragons are now properly removed from Hikaru and Kurumi's runs. Shizuka still gets to fight them-- lucky her.
  • West District: More attention is called to the Plague General's locked door in the West District. There is now also a switch to open the gate as Shizuka... if you're creative.
  • West District: The switch for Byakko's gate has moved out of the canal and is now behind said gate so not just Shizuka can open it. Nekurow and Kurumi can open it just fine, thank you.
  • West District: Moved the Tether Post near the northeast corner so its corresponding post is visible from the upper point. Previously if you were unlucky you could trap Shizuka up there (not that there were not ways to get her down from it).
  • West District: Essence of Wrath has an additional requirement to summon-- the Plague General must die. It also no longer one-shots Summoned units and is otherwise treated like a normal boss.
  • South District: Added more Tether Posts on the eastern snake path.
  • South Districr: Tug of War spawns at a slightly lower rate. The consistency of the Burning Legion units is less varied (no more Void Walkers or Pit Warriors, more Fel Stalkers and Felguards). The frequency of Fel Reavers was also altered to prevent the computer from stalling on training them. Burning Legion units do not all have Chaos damage anymore.
  • South District: The Burning Legion's main Forge Camp is more compact to match the size of the opposing Morkoth base and now contains the same number of unit-training buildings as the Morkoth base. The terrain between the two bases is more even so the units don't have to walk around a random crag in the way. Buildings from both sides have had their armor significantly reduced.
  • South District: Now has a new bridge connecting the west lane to the central island. This bridge doesn't exist for Kurumi's run to keep her out of the west lane. As a consequence there is now a small path leading to/from the bridge.
  • South District: The consistency of the optional encounter on the central island during Hikaru's run has changed to some other fanservice than an otherwise out of place Sailor Moon parody.
  • North District: The Mekani boss's missile barrage deals a quarter as much damage as it did before (100 total instead of 400 total).
  • North District: The secret boss will summon Illusions at a higher frequency than before, but its pool of picked illusions varies in size by game difficulty, where Hard has the original sized pool and Easy has the smallest pool.
  • East District: Bosses (other than Kasumi) no longer use Seal of Oracles. Fixed a bug where Kasumi would repeatedly cast Seal of Oracles even when it backfired; she is supposed to stop hitting herself eventually.
  • East District: Every costume available to Kurumi in this stage are all moved to near her start location so you don't have to go looking for them anymore.
  • East District: Invader Heroes no longer share a model with their unit counterparts-- you can tell them apart now.
  • Nexus District: The mechanical enemies in the elevator stage spawn corpses for Heroes that use them. The wave consistency is now more different between Shizuka and Kurumi's runs.
  • Nexus District: Hikaru and Kurumi join Shizuka in fighting the Lord of Sorceria in Normal mode instead of Easy mode. The Black Moon Priests join in Easy mode instead of Normal mode. Hard mode remains a solo fight.
  • Nexus District: The Lord of Sorceria's Stage 4/5 body no longer prevents you from clicking on terrain behind him. His Ultimate attack now has a visible 8 second countdown timer.
