The other half of the Dwarven Dragon Slayers, Surtur is the explosive brother of Garm. Where Garm favors attacking from a safe distance, Surtur doesn't mind wading into the midst of battle with his beloved explosives. Despite his brawny nature, Surtur is quite brilliant, often formulating new explosives in his sleep.

A disciplined artist, Surtur takes pride in blowing things up and otherwise destroying things as much as he loves creating. Other dwarves shun Surtur for his reckless outlook, but the Dragon Slayers welcomed him, offering an outlet to put his eccentricities to good use.

Author's Note

Surtur was created to fill out the ranks of the Dragon Slayers in Book 4, which was when I made him related to Garm and gave him a more symathetic edge to the otherwise malevolent organization. Ironically he still died anyway-- on the side of the good guys.
